Hockey World League Semi-Final: India women go down to England in quarters

India lost 1-4 to England in the quarterfinals of the Women’s Hockey World League Semi-Final Johannesburg leg on Tuesday.
Giselle Ansley gave England an early 1-0 lead in the 6th minute through a penalty stroke, and they dominated India for the rest of the match.
They extended the lead in the 13th minute when Alex Danson put the ball past Savita making this her third goal of the tournament.
Susannah Townsend then scored England’s third in the 42nd minute after a defensive error by India.
A good referral on India’s part won them a PC in the 57th minute and India’s lone dragflicker Gurjit Kaur struck a brilliant goal beating England goalkeeper Maddie Hinch.
England, however, made sure there were no late hiccups as Hannah Martin scored to make it 4-1 in their favour.
India will next face Japan in the fifth-eighth classification round.
