Lee has yet to capture gold in the Olympics or the World Championships and Hidayat had words of encouragement for the Malaysian after losing to him at the weekend.
"Chong Wei is very fast in the Super Series and I hope he can win a big title like the Olympics, World Championships...," the Indonesian told Malaysia's New Straits Times.
"I guess it is just mental but I hope he can overcome that."
Lee blazed a trail through the Super Series Masters Finals in Taipei and the Malaysia Open without conceding a game. He will look to continue his excellent form in this week's Korean Open.
Lee suffered a shock exit in last year's World Championships in Paris when he lost to Hidayat ahead of a potential match-up against China's Lin Dan. This year's version will be staged in London towards the end of the year.
