Explosives recovered, three arrested

The Gaya police recovered a huge quantity of explosives in the form of around 3,978 pieces of gelatin rods, weighing about six quintals on the GT Road under Barachatti police station.

The Gaya police early on Wednesday morning recovered a huge quantity of explosives in the form of around 3,978 pieces of gelatin rods, weighing about six quintals on the GT Road under Barachatti police station. The recovery was made after chasing the Tata Sumo vehicle in which the gelatin rods were being carried.

Three persons, who were boarding the vehicle, Md Zahir (Koderma), Md Saud Khan (Hemjapur village under Sherghati sub-division of Gaya) and Md Shahjad (driver) of Ranchi, were arrested.

According to reports, the explosives were to be delivered to the Maoists.

Sherghati DSP Baliram Chaudhary and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) deputy commandant KN Haldhar said police got information that some persons had met Maoists zonal commander Indal at Doath village under Barachatti police station a day back.

It was decided that delivery of the explosives would be made at a primary school, Doath.
