"Petroleum price hike will raise the price of various commodities. UPA government at the Centre and the ruling JD(U)-BJP combine in the state are responsible for the price rise which is compounding the miseries of poor people," LJP president Ram Vilas Paswan told reporters in Patna on Sunday while announcing the bandh.

Paswan said LJP and RJD will kick off their joint poll campaign on June 29. Cancelling his birth day function on July 5 in the wake of the death of Digvijay Singh, former union minister and MP from Banka, Paswan said, "LJP workers will observe the day as 'Sankalp Diwas' and take a pledge to oust the NDA government from power in the state."
