Lok Janshakti Party MLA from Mahnar in Vaishali district Ram Kishore Singh alias Rama Singh was arrested by Patna police late on Saturday night on the charge of assaulting the driver of an Ambassador car near Chiraiyatand overbridge.
On Sunday, the MLA was admitted to the Rajendra Nagar hospital from where he was later shifted to the Patna Medical College and Hospital. Singh had sustained injuries in his leg in a road mishap late on Saturday night.
The two drivers of the MLA were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Patna on Sunday, who forwarded them to judicial custody for 14 days.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sadar) Vivekanand Mandal said an FIR had been lodged against the MLA and his drivers, Shiv Shankar Sah and Ranvijay Singh, under sections 323, 325 and 307 of the Indian Penal Code. While the drivers were sent to the Beur jail, the MLA is undergoing treatment in police custody, he said.
The complaint against the LJP leader and his two drivers was lodged by Jay Govind Prasad, driver of the Ambassador car bearing registration number MMU-2321, who charged them with making murderous attack on him and causing grievous injuries to his hand. Jay Govind is also undergoing treatment at the PMCH in police custody, the DSP added.
A counter FIR was lodged against Jay Govind Prasad by the MLA’s driver, Shiv Shankar Sah. “Counter FIRs have been lodged in connection with the accident that took place near Chiraiyatand overbridge,” said Ramakant Prasad, officer in-charge of Kankarbagh police station.
The accident took place when the MLA was returning to Patna from Mahnar in a car.
