The monsters (or rather the wannabe monsters) Mike and Sulley have returned but in a flashback story. Monsters University is the prequel to the very successful 2001 animated film Monsters Inc.

Monsters University is a look at the relationship between Mike (voice by Billy Crystal) and Sullivan (John Goodman) during their days at Monsters University -- when they weren't necessarily the best of friends.
