Telugu film star Uday Kiran who committed suicide on January 5, 2014, was best known for his romantic roles. He began his career in 2000 with Chitram. His first three films, Chitram, Nuvvu Nenu and Manasantha Nuvve, were super hits. Soon after he was given the sobriquet 'Hat-trick Hero'. In 2001, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor - Telugu for the film Nuvvu Nenu.
