Kano, Nigeria (83.6): Kano, Nigeria recorded an annual average PM2.5 concentration of 83.6 micrograms per cubic metre. Residents in cities from India, Nigeria, Peru, and Bangladesh are exposed to PM 2.5 levels that are several-fold higher than the global averages, the report said. “As cities around the world rapidly grow, the impacts of air pollution on residents’ health are also expected to increase, underscoring the importance of early interventions to reduce exposures and protect public health,” said Pallavi Pant, a Senior Scientist at HEI, involved in the study.(Getty Images)
