Faf du Plessis won the toss and RCB chose to bowl first. Head and Abhishek Sharma smashed 76 runs in the powerplay. The opening stand ended on a whopping 108 runs in just 8.1 overs.  (PTI)

 It was Dinesh Karthik, however, who really made sure that RCB are not humiliated at their own home by scoring 83 in 35 balls. All these contributions meant that RCB ended with a score of 262/7, just one run behind their own highest ever IPL total of 263/5 which they had scored against the Pune Warriors in 2013. Chris Gayle had scored an unbeaten 175 off 66 balls in that game and RCB had won it by 130 runs. This time, they lost by 25 runs. (PTI)
