Pre-monsoon showers in Pune for six more days

IMD stated that the monsoon is very likely to extend to north coastal Maharashtra, including Mumbai with heavy to very-heavy rains at a few places with extremely heavy, that is more than 19.5 cm rainfall at isolated places, between June 9 and June 12.

Pune The India meteorological department (IMD) has stated that conditions are favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon into parts of the south Konkan on June 7.

Pune on Wednesday witnessed heavy pre-monsoon showers, with rains forecast till June 12.

IMD stated that the monsoon is very likely to extend to north coastal Maharashtra, including Mumbai with heavy to very-heavy rains at a few places with extremely heavy, that is more than 19.5 cm rainfall at isolated places, between June 9 and June 12.

A warning has been issued by the IMD for increase in rainfall on coastal Karnataka, Goa and south coastal Maharashtra from June 7 till June 12

According to IMD, southwest monsoon has further advanced into more of south interior Karnataka,most parts of Rayalaseema, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and west central Bay of Bengal,remaining parts of east-central Bay of Bengal and some more parts of northwest Bay of Bengal.

According to IMD, the monsoon will further progress into other parts of Maharashtra till June 8. The officials said that conditions are also likely to become favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon into some parts of Gujarat, southern parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, remaining parts of the northeastern states and most parts of Bay of Bengal from June 9 to June 11.
