A bag with 254 passports meant for delivery to applicants through the main post office in Civil Lines area here have gone missing in the transit, it was learnt on Tuesday.

This came to light after some people who didn't get their passports reached the post office to enquire.

Among them was Bindar Singh, a resident of Bandi village, who said his wife Karamjeet Kaur had applied for the document at the Passport Seva Kendra on January 2, and her passport was reported as dispatched from the regional Passport Office, Chandigarh, to the main post office here via Speed Post on January 15.

He said they received SMS alerts, but the passport didn’t reach the post office. Postmaster Purushotam Dass in his reply to Karamjeet Kaur’s complaint said the bag containing the passports had not yet reached and an inquiry was being conducted.

He said he has lodged a complaint with the office of the SSP through an email, though SSP Navin Singla said police haven’t yet received any complaint.
