Admissions at school for meritorious students begins

This is the first government school in the city which will have smart classrooms and teaching will be done through e-content. School heads have been directed to submit forms of the students.

The last date to submit the for ms to MIS coordinator and district education officer is June 21.

Though government school heads are guiding students who have scored above 80% marks in Class-10 to take admission in this school, students are not interested as they want to continue studies from their respective schools only.

A government school principal on the condition of anonymity, said: “We have informed the students that those who have secured more than 80% marks in Class-10 are eligible to take admissions in Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students, but students have not responded as they want to continue their studies from their respective schools only.”

Esha Sharma, a government school student, said: “I have already taken admission in one of the government schools of the city and happy with my teachers there. So why will I go to another school as I am getting all the facilities in my school.”

Director, public instructions, (schools), Kamal Garg said: “We are appointing sports teachers so that students can practice games in the school.”
When asked that the construction of the hostel at Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students is still incomplete. He said they would make living arrangements for the students. The classes will begin from July 1.”

The Punjab government will run and manage the school and all facilities will be provided to the students to enable them to compete in various fields and to develop their overall personality.
