Randeep Singh Rana of Valtoha used to run a barbershop in Bhai Ladhu village and was in a relationship with Sukhwinder Kaur, but her father Dogar Singh, 50, objected to it. “On Sunday morning, Dogar called Rana to his house and hacked him to death, said Bhikhiwind station house officer (SHO) Avtar Singh.
“I saw Dogar hitting my brother on the neck with a sharp-edged weapon,” said Davinder Singh, younger brother of Rana.
Dogar also caught hold of his daughter and allegedly killed her. He managed to flee when villagers started gathering at the spot, said Davinder in his statement to police.
A case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) had been registered against Dogar at the Bhikhiwind police station. The SHO said hunt had been launched to arrest him.
