A lecture on freedom fighter and martyr Bhagat Singh’s ideology was organised by Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sports and Cultural Club and Naujawan Bharat Sabha at Sunet library here on the eve of his 108th birth anniversary.
“You could be a person with a feudal or casteist mindset and still profess to be a fan of Bhagat Singh. The important thing to ponder about is how much of Bhagat Singh’s ideology we have actually adopted,” said professor Jatinder Singh at the lecture. It is the time to think beyond Bhagat Singh because the circumstances have changed and we should analyse our social and economic conditions again, added prof Singh.
Further, he added that at the present time, fundamentalist forces are active in social and political circles and the followers of Bhagat Singh have to be more responsible and sharp as the time to counter the fascist forces has come.
The president of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sports and Cultural Club, Harpreet Singh said, “It is our responsibility to fulfil the dreams of our martyrs and we are trying to spread awareness about Bhagat Singh’s ideology.”
