Ludhiana municipal corporation has no information regarding the allotment of spaces in its building to some union's for running their offices.
Information obtained by a city-based activist under Right to Information (RTI) Act revealed that some unions have opened their offices in various buildings of municipal corporation.
On RTI activist Kuldeep Singh Khaira's complaint, assistant town planner (headquarters) has asked the officials concerned of the MC zones to submit report on this.
Khaira said he had recently demanded to provide certified legible copy of the orders for the allotment of the offices/premises or properties allotted/occupied to staff unions.
“In the information under RTI Act 2005, the MC informed that the drawing branch has no record about the allotment of offices to unions.
The branch also doesn't have any information that which office is running in which room and total number of offices running on the premises,” Khaira said.
Besides, the MC informed that no documents were available to vacate the offices of unions which were running on the MC premises, he said. Khaira claimed that some offices of the unions were not even authorised and they should be vacated.
Khaira also requested the MC commissioner to order the officials/field staff concerned to maintain the record so that illegal occupation of rooms could be prevented.
Contacted, assistant town planner, Kamaljeet Kaur said, “I received the complaint and it has been forwarded to the officials concerned
of all zones of municipal corporation. I can comment on this after getting reply from the officials concerned.”
