Pathankot residents want clarity on LS candidate

Residents of the district, while happy with BJP leader and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi's visit on January 23, also expect him to clear the air on the Lok Sabha candidate from the constituency.

Residents of the district, while happy with BJP leader and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi's visit on January 23, also expect him to clear the air on the Lok Sabha candidate from the constituency.

Two contenders Vinod Khanna and Swaran Salaria have been in the race for long. Observers also expect that there could be somebody brought in from the outside like patriarch SK Punj who is seen almost in all religious or social functions, and also the local functions of the party. Master Mohan Lal is also hoping for a comeback, backing on his strong links with the senior BJP leaders.

Former BJP state president Ashwani Sharma is leading the team of Sujanpur and Bhoa MLAs and expects a good response to the rally at Madhopur on Sunday.

"Not only the BJP leaders and workers, the common man also wants to see Modi assume the PM's chair," claims former BJP president Ashwani Sharma.

The traffic at the Pathankot Jammu national highway might be affected by the rally. The administration has decided to

route traffic through Kathlore bridge via Dinanagar. SSP Surinder Kalia said that that route would remain open till 3 pm.

He said that 2,300 policemen will be deployed on rally duty to ensure that no section of population is inconvenienced.
