High-voltage drama was witnessed at the Metro Cash and Carry wholesale store in Ludhiana was gatecrashed, even vandalised, by discount-loving shoppers on Saturday. The store had announced a stock clearance sale.
Managers allowed visitors to shop without the otherwise-mandatory customer card, but the rush, non-availability of some products, and denial of some offers led to a ruckus.
There were also scuffles between customers and staff, and racks and products were damaged too.
Police from Ladowal station reached the spot upon being informed and brought the situation under control. No case was registered.
