Volvo travel from Chandigarh to Delhi to now cost more

If you are planning to travel to Delhi soon, a slight increase in fares might surprise you as the Haryana Cabinet on Tuesday, approved a 13.33 percent increase in bus fares.

If you are planning to travel to Delhi soon, a slight increase in fares might surprise you as the Haryana Cabinet on Tuesday, approved a 13.33 percent increase in bus fares.

An official release said fares of air-conditioned (AC) buses, including Volvos, have also been hiked in view of the increase in operational cost. The fares were last revised in 2012-13.

The passengers will now have to cough up 10 paise extra per km for the ordinary bus, about 17 paise per km for intra-state AC buses and about 13 paise for inter-state AC buses including Volvos.

For example, the fare for ordinary bus up to Delhi has been hiked by about Rs 20 and for Volvo about Rs 30.

Ordinary buses: 10 paise per km; impact: About Rs 10 extra for a distance of about 100 km

Intra-state luxury (AC) buses: 17.75 paise per km; impact: About Rs 18 extra for about 100 km

Inter-state AC (Volvos) buses: 12.50 paise per km; impact: About Rs 12.50 every 100 km in Haryana
