Praise pours in for Mahanati, celebs can’t stop raving about Keerthy Suresh’s film
A galaxy of stars from many south Indian languages including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Mohanlal to influential directors such as Vamshi Paidipally have raved about Mahanati.
There’s no stopping the Mahanati tsunami. The biopic, starring Keethi Suresh as the legendary Telugu actor Savitri, is being praised by one and all. Upon the film’s release on Wednesday, Baahubali director SS Rajamouli was among the first to lavish praises on the project.
Now that the Tamil version of the film, Nadigaiyar Thilagam, has released, celebrities have been tweeting to express their feelings and good wishes for the film and praise Keerthy and Dulquer Salmaan for their work.
Nagarjuna wrote: “@KeerthyOfficial you were brilliant along with @dulQuer in #Mahanati / @SwapnaCinema Vyjayanthi movies & ashwin nag take a bow you have put telugu cinema on a pedestal!! @Samanthaprabhu2 ??my eyes are filled with tears of pride!! #mahanati what a tribute to Savithramma.”
Nagarjuna, whose son Naga Chaitanya played his grand father A Nageswar Rao in the film, said that he felt like a “proud father and jealous son”. He wrote: “Am today a proud father and a jealous son. I never played my father legendary #ANR Garu. But, I am overwhelmed and very happy to present to you all, Chay as ANR in #Mahanati #ANRliveson.”
Actor Mohanlal, who has not watched Mahanati yet, also had good words to say: “Hearing great reviews about #Mahanati. Very happy for both My Dears from our extended family @KeerthyOfficial & @dulQuer. Will watch the movie soon!!”
Film director Krish, who also has a cameo in the film, was also praised for Dulquer for pulling off a tricky character. “He wrote: KUDOS to @dulQuer for portraying an epic but not so easy character to feel sympathy or empathy for at times; but his charisma, magnetism n great performance made us love him in #Mahanati even in GJ’s lowest moments. Congratulations again on d Golden Standard Epic Performance.”
Praising Keerthy for her effortless transformation, he wrote: “There’s emotional intensity n then there’s @KeerthyOfficial in #Mahanati -Hats off for d seamless transformation from a Playful Young Theatre Kid to a Super Star in d glitter world to a Tragic Soul. This is without a doubt the single best acting performance I have ever seen.”
Veteran filmmaker K Raghavendra Rao too reserved his praise for the film’s lead pair. He wrote: “Keerthy Suresh has lived the role of Savitr for the film and Dulquer’s portrayal of Gemini Ganesan is fantastic. I congratulate Nag Ashwin and the film’s team.”
Vamshi Paidipally also praised the film in a series of tweets.

Some of the main cast, like Dulquer and Vijay Deverakonda, too expressed their gratitude and wonder at the phenomenal response the film has got.

Vijay Deverekonda wrote: “Watched #Mahanati Last night. What a life Savitri Garu had. Cinema super hit - super hit kante oka super experience.”
KTR, a minister in government of Telangana, said: “What an incredible movie!! Truly blown away by #Mahanati. @KeerthyOfficial just lived the role, Stunning performance? My Compliments to outstanding direction by Nag Ashwin, Swapna and terrific performances by @Samanthaprabhu2 @dulQuer @TheDeverakonda @chay_akkineni.”
On Tuesday, SS Rajamouli had written, “@KeerthyOfficial’s potrayal of Savitri garu is one of the finest performances I’ve ever seen. It is not just imitating. She brought the legendry actress back to life. @dulQuer is absolutely fantastic. I am his fan now.”
