Retail inflation stays below 6% for second month

India’s benchmark inflation rate, as measured by CPI stood at 5.72% in December 2022. This is the lowest monthly inflation print since December 2021, the third consecutive month of a dip, and the second consecutive month when it has stayed below the 6% mark, the upper limit of RBI’s tolerance band.

Vegetable, cereal prices push inflation to 7.41%

Retail inflation, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) grew at 7.41% in the month of September, largely in line with the 7.36% forecast by a Bloomberg poll of economists, but significantly higher than the 7% reading for the month of August.

August inflation accelerates to 7% on high food prices

Consumer prices rose 7% last month from a year earlier, data released by the statistics ministry showed Monday. That’s faster than an estimate of a 6.90% gain in a Bloomberg survey of economists and compares with a 6.71% reading in July.
