Pune is the best Indian city to live. But this Maharashtra city also has sufficient wow factor, making it one of the best cities to visit as a tourist in India. Ahead, 11 places to visit in Pune.

Pune in Maharashtra is the most liveable city in India, according to the Ease of Living Index report released on Monday by Union housing and urban affairs minister, Hardeep Singh Puri. Pune may be a fine city to reside in, but it is also of great interest to travellers, boasting many natural and historical tourist attractions. The city is easily navigated, fun and crammed with art and history and a humming nightlife.

Shaniwarwada

A prominent historical landmark in the city, Shaniwarwada is a majestic fort that was built in 1732 and was the seat of the Peshwas of the Maratha Empire.

Aga Khan Palace

Another famous landmark in Pune is the Aga Khan Palace, which was built by Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan III in 1892.

Parvati Hill

A major tourist destination in the Pune is Parvati Hill, a hillock that is 2,100 feet above sea level. It offers the best view of Pune city and is one its most scenic spots.

Osh Ashram

Osho Ashram is one of the famous tourist places in Pune, located in the Koregaon Park. The founder of the ashram was Rajneesh Chandra Mohan Jain, who is famous among the people as Osho Rajneesh.

Shinde Chhatri

A memorial dedicated to the 18th-century military leader Mahadji Shinde, Shinde Chhatri is a major tourist attraction in the city.

Peacock Bay

A famed spot in Pune, Peacock Bay is located as a part of Khadakwasla dam’s lake and it is owned by the National Defence Academy in Pune. It is known to be the centre of their water training programmes.

Mulshi Lake

Mulshi lake and dam have become one of the major tourist destinations in Pune for those who love to capture the pictures of nature at its best . The dam built on the famous Mula River.

NDA Khadakwasla

National Defence Academy is located at Khadakwasla near Pune. It is the joint services academy of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets from the Army, the Navy and the Air Force are trained together.

Khadakwasla Dam

Khadakwasla Dam is an attraction located at Khadakwasla, the location where the NDA is. The dam is built on the Mutha River, situated about 20 kilometres from Pune city.

Pataleshwar

The Pataleshwar cave temple is an ancient temple that dates back to the 8th century during the Rashtrakuta period. The temple is also known as Panchaleshvara or Bamburde temple.

Raja Dinkar Kelkar museum

An intriguing museum with a lot of references to the medieval history of India is located in Pune and that is one of the most famous attraction of the city, Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum.
