Sahil explained that his mother is “well off” but rarely splurges on herself. Recently, she went out shopping for glasses and found a pair priced at an exorbitant $1,200 ( ₹1.1 lakh approximately).

“My mom doesn’t exactly know how much I make. She is well off but never splurges on luxuries for herself,” Sahil wrote on X. “Today she went to buy some glasses, and she VC’d me to show some of the pairs,” he elaborated.

Sahil, a funded day trader, said that his mother video called him to show him a pair of glasses she liked. But when she realised they were priced at $1,200 or more than ₹1 lakh, she refused to buy them.
At this point, he stepped in to say he would be happy to buy them as a gift for her. “I told her to get it, and I’ll pay for it,” wrote Sahil.
His mom brushed off this offer, telling Sahil that he could buy such expensive gifts once he starts earning ₹5 to 6 lakh a month. She did not realise that her son already earned well above that benchmark.
“Spent the next 30 minutes getting her to believe me I make way more,” Sahil claimed on X. Ultimately, his mother bought the glasses as a gift from him. “Very wholesome day,” the trader concluded.

Social media users were touched by the anecdote and praised Sahil for this display of filial affection.
“God bless you. You are a good son. My mum is no more but your conversation resonated. I had similar ones with my mum,” wrote X user Swati.
