The child reportedly squeezed through the fence around 6:30 pm, about an hour after former President Donald Trump announced plans for new auto tariffs from the Oval Office.

Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi confirmed the incident in a post on X.

“Officers quickly reunited the child with their parents without incident,” he said.

Video footage shared online shows an armed officer walking across the White House lawn while carrying a small child dressed in a blue hooded sweatshirt. The officer is seen handing the child over to another officer near the fence.

Take a look at the video:

Many took to the comments section of the video with one user questioning, “Why is the first Secret Service agent holding that child like that? It’s very awkward.”

Another noted, “He doesn’t have kids. The second guy who grabbed the child does have kids. Can just tell.”

The Secret Service did not release any further details about the child or their family but confirmed that the situation was resolved safely. There were no injuries or disturbances reported.

The fencing around the White House is specifically designed to keep intruders out, but incidents involving young children slipping through have happened in the past. The Secret Service has previously worked to address such security concerns while ensuring the safety of visitors and their families.
