The last two months have seen seven new shows debuting on TV. We evaluate their popularity and how they fared on the TRP charts

Show: Chhanchhan (Sony)
TRP: 1.4
Launch date: March 25
Although everyone has high hopes from this show thanks to its fresh appeal, we fear that it might go the usual saas-bahu way. With Chhanchhan putting a strong fight against Umaben (Supriya Pathak), the track is already taking a turn in that direction.

Show: Savitri (Life OK)
TRP: 1.2.
Launch date: February 18
Even after two months, this fiction thriller hasn’t been able to hook the audiences. Perhaps the makers need a better twist to make the story of a modern day Savitri-Satyavan fighting villian Rahu Kaal work for its audience.

Show: Dil Ki Nazar Se... Khoobsurat (Sony)
TRP: 0.5.
Launch date: February 25
This show’s plot is a mix of two dissimilar stories: that of ’90s hit Saajan and the fairytale, Beauty & The Beast. This story of a romance between two guys and a very confused girl doesn’t appeal because it is run-of-the-mill.

Show: Bani-Ishq Da Kalma (Colors)
TRP: 1.1.
Launch date: March 18
Although the show is based on the novel issue of NRI marriages, it hasn’t made an impact.. Bani also faces tough competition from another Punjabi-themed show, Veera, which airs during the same slot and is doing much better.

Show: India’s Best Dramebaaz (Zee TV)
TRP: 2.4.
Launch date: February 23
Super cute kids, jolly judges and entertaining acts make for great weekend viewing. The tiny tots never fail to win the hearts of the audiences. This one is already a hit and will continue to rule the roost in its category.

Show: Saraswatichandra (Star Plus)
TRP: 2.2.
Launch date: February 25
The much-hyped debut of Sanjay Leela Bhansali on TV looks promising and has also delivered decent TRPs. The romance is building up in the story; we hope it perks up in the weeks to come.

Show: Badalte Rishton Ki Daastan (Zee TV)
TRP: 1.4
Launch date: March 18
The show has all it takes to make a hit — it is a remake of a hit Bengali show, Khela and has popular actors Kiran Karmarkar, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Additi Gupta helming it. But there’s something amiss. The plot has moved quickly but has failed to grip the audience.
