As UK and France moved ahead with announcements to recognise Palestine as a state, Germany affirmed its stance on the decision. During a meeting with Israel's neighbour and Arab nation Jordan, German chancellor Friedrich Merz revealed when Berlin would recognise the Palestinian state and also issued warnings for Israel against annexation plans.
