China and Indonesia pledged their support for Palestine to become a member of the UN ahead of a UN Security Council vote. Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi said China backs Palestine's resolution to become UN member. He also blamed the United States for holding up ceasefire resolutions at the UN. The U.S. vetoed a number of proposed resolutions because they didn’t tie a ceasefire directly to release of hostages or condemn October 7 Hamas attack.
