First batch of Covaxin vaccines from new facility released by Health Minister

Big boost for India's Covid vaccine programme as new factory begins supply. Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya released the first batch of vaccines from the new Ankleshwar plant. Ankleshwar vaccine facility set up by Bharat biotech to make Covaxin vaccine. Covaxin is India's first indigenous covid vaccine approved by regulators. India has administered over 63 crore, 9 lakh vaccine doses since initiation on January 16, 2021. On August 27, a new record was set in the country by administration of 1 crore jabs in 24 hours.
