Deliveries can now resume for the F-35 fifth-generation stealth fighter aircraft. Nat'l security waiver by Pentagon allowed Chinese-origin alloy to go into an engine part. Waiver allowed an alloy in the engine lubricant pump that doesn't comply with U.S laws. Pentagon stated the acceptance of the aircraft is necessary for national security interests. Officials said the magnet doesn't transmit info/ harm aircraft; no security risks involved. An alternative source for the metal will be found & used in future lubricant pumps. Other Chinese-origin magnets on the jet received waivers from past Pentagon officials.
