Six Army Contingents showing their uniforms over the decades marched down Rajpath at the 73rd Republic Day parade. This included a new set of battle uniforms unveiled by the army on January 15 this year. The new uniform, which is expected to be issued to over 12 lakh Indian Army members, features a new disruptive design and camouflage pattern, as well as a different material that would keep the troops comfortable in various weather situations. The marching contingents were led by the Rajput regiment who donned the uniform from the 1950s. They were followed by the Assam contingent who wore the uniform of the 1960s. The third contingent was of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, who donned the uniform of the 1970s. The fourth and fifth contingents were the Sikh Light Infantry and Army Ordnance Corps regiments. They wore the existing uniform of the Army, which was last changed in 2008. The contingent at the rear end was the Parachute Regiment who donned the latest uniform. The 6 army marching contingents also displayed different rifles in the parade. Watch for more details.
