Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said rising global tensions are having a “significant and widespread negative impact” on ordinary people, with pandemics, climate disasters and supply chain disruptions showing that no crisis remains confined to one region. Addressing the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, Modi said the grouping must strengthen resilience by identifying challenges early, staying prepared and responding quickly. He announced that consensus had been reached on a BRICS Integrated Early Warning System for the prevention of and response to infectious diseases. Modi also said Early Warning Data Integration Guidelines have been formulated to strengthen cooperation and preparedness in disaster management. The BRICS New Delhi Declaration also welcomes the establishment of a dedicated sub-working group to advance the integrated early warning system for mass infectious diseases.
