Delhi gangrape convicts’ hanging stayed again; victim’s mother slams ‘system’

Execution of four men convicted in the brutal gangrape and murder of a woman in Delhi in 2012, was stayed again on Monday. A Delhi court ruled that since the mercy petition of one of the convicts, Pawan Gupta, was pending with the President of India, the execution could not go ahead as scheduled. The mother of the victim called the latest delay as a 'failure of the system'. She questioned why the courts were taking so long in implementing their own orders regarding the hanging.
