Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech on Saturday spoke on the construction of Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya. In his marathon speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort, PM Modi hailed the commencement of the temple construction, adding that 'the conduct of people of the country has been unprecedented and is an inspiration for future'. The construction of Ram Temple is being overseen by Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust and has begun nine months after the Supreme Court verdict. PM Modi's address came amid the global coronavirus pandemic, a border standoff with China and a slew of reforms by the government under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. This was PM Modi's seventh straight Independence Day speech from the ramparts of Red Fort. India celebrates country's 74th Independence Day on August 15. Additional cops have been deployed at borders and across the national capital to maintain the law and order situation.
