12-hour shutdown throws Bengal out of gear

West Bengal came to a standstill and daily activities got crippled as the state observed a 12-hour dawn to dusk bandh on Friday. Normal life was badly hit. Shops and business establishments remained closed due to the shutdown and no vehicle was seen plying on the streets.
