30 dead, 150 injured as Dehradun-Varanasi Janta Express derails

The engine and two bogies of the Dehradun-Varanasi Janta Express train derailed near Bachhrawan in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli district on Friday after the brakes failed to deploy in time. At least 30 passengers were killed and 150 injured in the accident that occured while the train was through Bachhrawan railway station, 50km from Lucknow, around 9am.According to sources, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) has already reached the accident spot. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Ramlal said that Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is upset with the incident. He also said that two lakh rupees would be provided to the families of the dead while Rs. 50,000 would be given to the kins of those injured.
