Members of politburo of Communist Party of India Marxist (CPI-M) met on Monday to discuss the state assembly election results, in the absence of their leader and former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee in New Delhi. The party's unexpected loss in the elections in West Bengal ended three decades of Left Front rule in the state. With the defeat, speculations are doing rounds that Bhattacharjee has offered to quit the leadership of the party in the state. However M. K. Pandhe, a politburo member denied the reports and said they have not received any such information.
