Ganguly bats for IPL, says it can't be ignored

Commenting on the row over the preference of 'Club versus Country', former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly on Thursday defended the Indian cricketers who have skipped the West Indies tour by citing injuries or the need for rest. Speaking in favour of those players who have opted for rest, he pointed out that the Indian Premier League (IPL) with rich cash incentives and fringe benefits cannot be ignored. Reacting to former Sri Lankan skipper Arjuna Ranatunga's remark that the IPL is a 'monster' and a tourney of 'mercenaries', Ganguly said several Indian players have not only got platform to show their skills but also to make money through the IPL.
