Heat wave grips north India, tourists troubled

Rising mercury levels in northern India are proving to be a major let-down for the tourism industry. In the last two days, many places in the region recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Chandigarh peaked to 40.9 degree Celsius on Tuesday. According to the Meteorological Department, in Pune, the heat wave is a result of the prevailing pre-monsoon conditions in the country.
