IIM-A faces acute financial crunch

The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad is currently facing an acute shortage of funds, according to Professor Sameer Baruah, the director of the institute. The professor says, the problem has been attributed to the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations, which the institute has implemented. Due to the new pay scales and relevant allowances, there has been an increase in the salaries of the serving staff and pensionary benefits of the retired employees.
