Pakistan home minister Rehman Malik today said that the agreement on a new visa regime with India would not be signed, but would be concluded at the political level. Speaking on the fact that India was insisting that Jamaat-ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed was the mastermind behind the Mumbai attacks, Rehman replied that Pakistani authorities would examine the new evidence against Saeed. It was widely expected that the two Secretaries would sign an agreement on a new, liberalized visa regime at the conclusion of their two-day talks today, but Malik said the pact would be “signed shortly”.
