The 24-hour shutdown by the Maoists against the Central Government's para-military operation, the Green Hunt, paralysed normal life and disrupted transport services throughout the eastern part of the country. The regional manager of Bihar's road transport authority, Ashok Kumar Singh said that the nationwide shutdown was affecting locals and daily wage labourers. Meanwhile, commuters faced the brunt of the shutdown in Ranchi as public transport came to a stand still. West Bengal also came to a halt, as normal life got crippled due to the shutdown.
