Police rescue 108 child labourers in Maharashtra

In a joint operation, police along with several non-governmental organisations working against child labour conducted raid and rescued 108 children from Nagpada area of Maharashtra after getting a tip-off from a social group. Police after conducting necessary verification raided several textile factories where a private contractor had hired minors who were forced to toil for over 16 to 20 hours shift in a day under inhumane conditions. The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Social Service (SS) branch, Vasant Dhoble told reporters that children were were found working in abysmal conditions.
