Sun TV wins bid for new IPL franchise

Chennai-based media corporation Sun TV on Thursday won the bid to be the ninth franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL) following Deccan Chargers termination from the cash rich cricket league. According to the IPL Governing Council, Sun TV beat PVP Ventures by putting up a sum of Rs.85.05 crores per year for the new IPL franchise.
