UN urges India to repeal Afspa?

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, Christof Heyns has urged India to repeal the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act (Afspa), which gives security personnel sweeping powers to search, arrest or even shoot people. Heyns also condemned the violence perpetrated by Maoist ultras and other non-state actors in India.
