Defence sources say the Rajnath Singh–chaired Defence Acquisition Council has granted Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) to buy 288 more S‑400 interceptor missiles from Russia at an estimated cost of ₹10,000 crore, via the Fast Track Procedure, to replenish stocks reportedly used during Operation Sindoor. The AoN reportedly covers 120 short‑range and 168 long‑range missiles, while India is also slated to receive the two remaining S‑400 systems already under contract later this year, sources told Hindustan Times. #DefenceAcquisitionCouncil
