Intense Karhal battle: Akhilesh readies for tough fight from BJP’s Baghel

BJP has sprung a surprise on the Karhal seat as Uttar Pradesh gears to vote in 7 phases from February 10. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who is taking his maiden political plunge in the upcoming assembly elections will face a tough fight from Union Minister SP Singh Baghel. It's worth noting that this isn't the first time Baghel will face Akhilesh. Baghel, then a member of the BSP, contested against Akhilesh from Firozabad in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, but lost by roughly 67,000 votes. A lawyer who is also a Samajwadi Party worker recently filed a plea challenging the BJP nominee in the Mainpuri district election. He has alleged that Baghel had made the wrong disclosure about his caste and concealed the cases against him. Karhal goes to polls in the third phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls on February 20. Watch for more details.
