‘Why doesn’t PM contest from south India?’: Congress defends Rahul’s Wayanad move
Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s jibe, Congress attempted to justify party President Rahul Gandhi’s decision to contest from 2 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. PM Modi, alluding to the recent Samjhauta Express blast verdict, had said that Congress had insulted Hindus by linking the community to terror. Modi said that this was why the party was scared of contesting polls from seats where Hindus are in majority. Congress called Rahul Gandhi’s decision a tradition of party leaders, and challenged Modi to fight from a seat in the south of India.
