French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen pitched for a policy to ban the wearing of the headscarf in public. Marine Le Pen & Macron went head-to-head in a TV debate just days before the the French election. Marine Le Pen stood by her controversial idea to entirely ban headscarves in France. Le Pen argued women had to be liberated, while centrist Macron said it would lead to 'civil war'.
