Modi Govt guns for submarine-launched drone as Indo-Pacific heats up

The govt has issued an expression of interest (EOI) to design & develop an underwater launched UAV. Sub-launched drone shall aid intel, surveillance & reconnaissance and augment maritime domain awareness. The main focus is in on enhancing situational awareness & enable the availability of real-time pics miles away. As per the info sought, the drone should be launchable from a standard NATO torpedo tube to a depth of 164FT . The unmanned vehicle should be controlled from the sub through a data link within the line of sight. Expression of interest - Drone payload should consist of electro-optic infrared cam housed in a canister. The underwater setup should feature a 'ruggedized storage box with charging mechanism' & additional set of batteries. The DRDO stated it is desirable to recover the drone using one point recovery system, or by means of flotation bag.
