'India acted swiftly': Top US official lauds Modi govt for helping Sri Lanka

United States Agency for International Development chief Samantha Power hails India for reacting ‘really swiftly’ with an absolutely critical set of measures to help Sri Lanka tide over its economic crisis, but calls to Beijing to provide significant relief have gone unanswered. USAID chief is currently on a two day visit to India. In an address at an event in Delhi IIT, Samantha Power said China became one of Sri Lanka's ‘biggest creditors’ offering often ‘opaque loan’ deals at higher interest rates than other lenders.
