An injured Assam Police cop recalled the sequence of events on the day of border clash. Constable NK Nath sustained injuries during the border clash with Mizoram. “We had gone there for a meeting but we did not expect them to fire at us. Mizoram Police were already in firing positions when we reached there. Many of my colleagues were killed, I suffered fractures in both my legs. They fired first, they had a location advantage. Firing lasted for 45 mins. Six among us were killed on spot while several others have been injured. Both Mizoram police as well as the civilians were prepared to fire at us,” he said. The border dispute between Assam & Mizoram peaked on Monday, July 26. A gunfight between forces of two states led to the deaths of six Assam police cops. The fierce gun battle also left a civilian dead & at least 50 others injured. Six companies of CRPF have been deployed at the site where the cops died.
